January 5, 2015

The sun is just rising. It is a new day, new week, a new year. The flurry, busyness, of the holidays is past and the new year truly begins. I am weary of the moving about that seems so much a constant in my life; that I am not able to unpack boxes and bags without  thought of when I will be repacking lurking somewhere in the shadows. But there is still a joy and excitement in beginning a new year. A fresh, untouched field of snow lies before me with a forest beyond. At this moment, I cannot see into the forest, I have not even met the challenge of how wet and cold and tiring crossing a field of snow can be. I only see the beauty of fresh snow on field and trees and it calls me to head out again, to try new things. The possibilities stir my heart with expectation and wonder.

I am thankful God gives us opportunities for new beginnings, and the reminder of new years and changing seasons that new beginnings are always possible. I am thankful God walks before us, and beside us; that we never travel alone. I am thankful for all the years and journeys past that have brought me to and prepared me for the journey ahead. So, with a heart of thankfulness, hope and only a little fear, I will lace up my boots and begin this new year. May God be glorified.

The Idolatry of Missions

The Idolatry of Missions

This is not my writing, but a thought provoking article written by another missionary. It is a good reminder, seemed a good first blog to describe why I do what I do...
